Victoria Memorial Medical Center
Affordable Healthcare for Marginalized Communities:
Eye Care, Maternity Care, Hygiene Awareness, and Medical Camps
Overview
Victoria Memorial Medical Center (VMMC), formerly Victoria Memorial Hospital (VMH), was founded in 2021 with the mission of offering healthcare services to the underprivileged who cannot afford expensive medical treatments. VMMC specializes in maternal and child healthcare and essential eye care services, including low-cost cataract surgeries. Additionally, VMMC organizes free medical camps in rural areas of Multan District. Strategically located on the outskirts of Multan City, our goal is to bridge the gap in affordable healthcare for families with limited resources.
Maternity Care
Our mission is to deliver exceptional maternity services in a friendly and supportive environment, ensuring women feel empowered and respected throughout their pregnancy. We are committed to providing the highest quality prenatal care and ensuring safe, comfortable childbirth experiences. At our maternity clinic, we also examine patients who have difficulties conceiving and address various gynecological complications. Our comprehensive approach covers all obstetric and gynecological issues, aiming to support women's health and well-being at every stage.
Eye Care
VMMC expanded its services to include eye care in July 2021 with support from Australian donors. By August 2021, we had acquired essential ophthalmic equipment, including an AutoRef-Keratometer, Phacoemulsification Machine, Slit Lamp, and more. By November 2021, the hospital had hired a full team of eye care professionals, including an ophthalmologist, refractionist, OT technician, and an on-call ophthalmic surgeon. The eye clinic has successfully completed 201 cataract surgeries and assessed and treated 1,512 patients.
Pharmacy
VMMC Pharmacy is committed to providing essential medications specifically designed for our patients' needs. We focus on gynecology and eye care, offering a comprehensive range of medications for these specialties. Additionally, we maintain a selection of general medications for emergencies, including IV fluids, antipyretics, antihistamines, anti-inflammatories, and essential pediatric medicines. We aim to ensure prompt and efficient access to necessary treatments, supporting the health and well-being of our patients.
Laboratory
VMMC Laboratory offers comprehensive diagnostic services, including hematology, microbiology, chemistry, serology, and a full range of blood tests. Our state-of-the-art laboratory is dedicated to providing accurate and timely results at a low cost, ensuring that patients from marginalized communities have access to essential healthcare services. We are committed to supporting the health and well-being of our community by making high-quality laboratory services affordable and accessible to everyone.
Free Medical Camps
VMMC actively conducts numerous medical camps in Multan and its surrounding areas to raise awareness, engage more people, and provide healthcare services to underprivileged communities. Our dedicated medical team, including our eye care specialists, frequently visits and organizes camps in flood-affected regions. These areas often suffer from outbreaks of airborne and waterborne diseases due to standing water, with children particularly affected by malaria from mosquito bites. At these medical camps, VMMC offers free medical examinations and provides free medications to patients, ensuring essential healthcare is accessible to those most in need.
Patient Testimonial
Bashir Masih, a daily laborer, previously worked by collecting wood sacks. However, when a cataract developed in his right eye, he struggled to perform his routine tasks, impacting his ability to earn a living and increasing financial strain. This situation even hindered his ability to pay his children's school fees.
Upon a recommendation, he visited Victoria Memorial Medical Center and underwent surgery. Following the cataract surgery, Bashir regained his ability to work efficiently and provide for his family once again.
